PHASE III: How can you be part of the solution?
In this phase, you will meet with other students in other classes who have researched the same, or similar, social issues topic.
As a group, you will:
  • create a campaign to bring awareness to the issue,
  • create a documentary of the process,
  • create a campaign video on the problem and solution(s).




Phase III Final Steps

Using the green screen option in iMovie
  1. Click “iMovie”
  2. Select “Preferences”
  3. Check “Show Advanced Tools”
  4. Insert your image
  5. Change the image length to match the length of your video (click “clip adjustments”)
  6. Import your video
  7. Drag your video on top of your picture
  8. Click “Green Screen”
  9. You’re done!
  10. Export your iMovie to the desktop using Quicktime.

Uploading your PSA to Weebly
  1. Export your PSA from iMovie to the desktop using Quicktime
  2. Drop your PSA into my drop box
  3. I will have to upload your video and give you the url
  4. Copy the link I send to you to your youtube video
  5. On your Weebly, click multimedia
  6. Drag the youtube icon to your site
  7. Double click the video
  8. Paste your video's url
  9. Test it to make sure it works
  10. Make sure you click "Publish" each day!

Finalizing your Phase III Project
  1. Verify that you have completed all parts of the project by reading over all pages of the packet in your group’s folder.
  2. When everything is completed on your website, make sure you click “Publish.”
  3. Drop your documentary into my dropbox (Bdetwiler, A=pd 1, B=pd 3, C=pd 4)
  4. You’ve just finished phase III! Bravo!


Weekly Assignments

Week of December 5th
Wednesday, 12/7: Meet with your group via the Google doc created by a group member. Direction are found in the document below:

Thursday, 12/8: Review the important documents below. These are the documents your received in a packet on Tuesday. You must also complete the following today:
Continue Brainstorming the following information. You will complete this in the same Google doc from yesterday.
  • Decide which role each group member will have. For example, who is the creative person who will design the items in your "shop?" Who is the expert proofreader/writer? Who will gather images to enhance your site? Who will be responsible for keeping track of citations and monitoring the information for correct citations and no plagiarism? Etc.
  • Discuss your vision for the awareness campaign.
  • Determine the details of your documentary. Will you take video each day? Photographs daily? A combination of both? Feel free to look up sample documentaries online to help get your thoughts flowing.
  • Discuss how your website will look. What will be the unifying elements on each page? Is there are particular color scheme or style you will carry through all pages?
  • Determine a plan of action. What will you accomplish each day? You can record this information on the Google doc, notebook paper, or on the calendar in your group's folder.
Friday, 12/9: Visit vista print to personalize the apparel for your shop. Create your website on Weebly.
Each group should complete the Slogan Form before leaving today.

Week of December 12th
Monday, 12/12: Make sure each group completes the Slogan Form today. This is to turn in your proposal for The More You Know PSA slogan.
Tuesday, 12/13: Students who are part of Mrs. Detwiler's ORIGINAL class (meaning, you report here for attendance every morning) need to complete the work record for today. This needs to be completed by the end of the period.
Wednesday, 12/14: Download this document for important information about today.
